  • Who started Burmese House?

Burmese House opened in 1998 by Mimi and Richard.

From Myanmar, the couple opened the burmese authentic restaurant and introduced the unique variety of flavours; spicy, sour, salty and sweet. The fusion of south-east asia are infused in the flavour of myanmar - making it an explosion of flavours & experience as soon as it enters your mouth.

  • What is our aim?

We aim to introduce the unique flavours of myanmar to the people of Melbourne. The meaning of 'Burmese House' is to mimic the feeling and aura of enjoying a family meal in Myanmar and thus that's exactly what we wish for our customers to experience - Not only the flavours of Myanmar, but rather an experience involving traditional aspects.

  • Interesting Facts

We pride ourselves in that we do no use MSG, animal fat or sugar.

Owner chef Mimi goes one step further and shares her knowledge by offering cooking classes and shows you how to use raw ingredients to make a Burmese curry paste which is the basis of many Burmese dishes.
